Juliet Fromholt has been listening to WYSO for as long as she can remember.  She began volunteering at the station while also serving as Program Director and General Manager at WWSU, the student station at her
alma mater, Wright State University.  Juliet does many things at WYSO including overseeing the station's web and social media presence, producing news features, and hosting two music programs.  In her spare time, Juliet serves as music editor DaytonMostMetro.com and is proud to serve as a board member for the Antioch Writers' Workshop and Cityfolk.

JT Ryder and C. Wright on Dayton's Dirty Little Secret

Dirty Little Secrets is a local variety show in the style of old vaudeville shows with a vast array of performers.  Organizer J.T. Ryder visited the WYSO studios to talk about the show.  He was joined by local musician Chris Wright whose band Parlour Tricks will perform at the next show.

The latest installment of Dirty Little Secrets featuring C. Wright's Parlour Tricks is Wednesday, March 16th at Wiley's Comedy Club in downtown Dayton.

Live on Kaleidoscope: Reece Lincoln Band

Reece Lincoln

Reece Lincoln is a young performer who's made a big impression in the local blues community.  After releasing their album, Soul of a Man, the Reece Lincoln Band visited the WYSO studio for a live performance.  They chatted with Kaleidoscope host Juliet Fromholt about writing and recording together and their upcoming live performances.

The Reece Lincoln Band will perform on March 12 at Gilly's as part of the Dayton Blues Society's Blues for a Cure.

The Fervor on Creating Arise, Great Warrior

The Fervor

Louisville band had been slowing coming together over the years, and now they feel like all of the players are in place.  The band visited the WYSO studios on their way to a show at Dayton's South Park Tavern, and chatted with Kaleidoscope host Juliet Fromholt about writing, recording their latest album Arise, Great Warrior and future plans.

The Fervor performed at South Park Tavern on Wenesday, February 23 with the Smug Brothers and the Motel Beds.

The Art of Threshold Singing

Around the country there are groups of women who sing at the bedsides of people who are sick or dying. It's called Threshold singing and there are choirs all over the United States, including one in Yellow Springs.

The idea was born in 1990 when Kate Munger was caring for a friend who was dying of AIDS in California. After spending the morning doing practical things doing the dishes and cleaning house, Munger sat down at her friend's bedside unsure of what to do next. So she began to sing.
