Juliet Fromholt has been listening to WYSO for as long as she can remember.  She began volunteering at the station while also serving as Program Director and General Manager at WWSU, the student station at her
alma mater, Wright State University.  Juliet does many things at WYSO including overseeing the station's web and social media presence, producing news features, and hosting two music programs.  In her spare time, Juliet serves as music editor DaytonMostMetro.com and is proud to serve as a board member for the Antioch Writers' Workshop and Cityfolk.

Live on Kaleidoscope: The Almond Tree

What started off as a short video for his church turned into a feature length documentary project for Shane Pergrem.   Here Pergrem discusses the process of making The Almond Tree, his first feature film and where the process has taken him as an artist.  He's joined by longtime friend Ricky Terrell of Starving in the Belly of the Whale, who composed the soundtrack to the Almond Tree. Terrell talks about scoring the film and shares several live and recorded songs.

Changing Landscapes Brings Chinese Fiber Art to Dayton

When you enter the first gallery of the Changing Landscapes exhibit, you see classic tapestries depicting Chinese landscapes. But the exhibit quickly unfolds to display both traditional and modern uses of embroidery, printing and sculpture that tackle the idea of landscape literally and figuratively.

Changing Landscapes is the first exhibition of contemporary Chinese fiber art to travel to the United States. This weekend marks the opening of the exhibition tour's only Midwestern stop - at the Dayton Art Institute.

The SOCHE Talks are a collaboration with the Southwest Ohio Council for Higher Education. In this monthly series we’ll hear from faculty and staff from areas colleges and universities on a wide variety of subjects. NPR's Susan Stamberg is Coming to the Dayton Art Institute

WYSO is pleased to announce that  Susan Stamberg, NPR Special Correspondent, will speak in Dayton on Friday June 29 at the Dayton Art Institute’s NCR Renaissance Auditorium at 7:30 pm.  Click here to purchase tickets.

 

Stamberg, the first woman to anchor a national nightly news program in the United States, has been with NPR since the network began broadcasting in 1971. The following year she became the co-host of “All Things Considered,” NPR’s first daily news magazine.
