Juliet Fromholt has been listening to WYSO for as long as she can remember.  She began volunteering at the station while also serving as Program Director and General Manager at WWSU, the student station at her
alma mater, Wright State University.  Juliet does many things at WYSO including overseeing the station's web and social media presence, producing news features, and hosting two music programs.  In her spare time, Juliet serves as music editor DaytonMostMetro.com and is proud to serve as a board member for the Antioch Writers' Workshop and Cityfolk.

Goodbye & Crusher Live on Kaleidoscope

Goodbye performing live

Goodbye and Crusher are two stylistically different bands with the same lineup.  Both bands began playing live during the summer and sometimes split a bill.  Nick Eddy, M Ross Perkins and Ian Kaplan joined Kaleidoscope host Juliet Fromholt in the WYSO studio to share some tracks-in-progress and talk about upcoming performances.

Goodbye will open Dayton Music Fest, performing Friday, October 5th at Omega Music in downtown Dayton.

Preparations Underway for 2012 Dayton Music Fest

October 5th and 6th mark the 8th annual Dayton Music Fest, a celebration of local music in downtown Dayton.  This year's festivities feature several free, all-ages options including a brand new partnership with Five Rivers Metroparks' Midwest Outdoor Experience.

Dayton Music Fest co-organizer Don Thrasher spoke with Kaleidoscope host Juliet Fromholt about this year's event and its diverse lineup.

Beard Team Ohio Prepares for BeardCon

After the success of last year's Beards of Science event, the members of Beard Team Ohio, spearheaded by the local Gem City Gentlemen of the Gilded Beard, decided to dream even bigger.  The result is October's BeardCon in Columbus, a beard and mustache convention with vendors, discussion and of course a beard and mustache competition.  Beard Team Ohio's Thomas Smith, Nate Stevens, Braden Tussing and Stephen Alexander visited the WYSO studios to talk about Beard Con, the charity it will benefit and how men, women and children can take part in the competition.

New Vega Live on Kaleidoscope

Chance Campbell, Alex Rundle, Adam Sabin and Zach Sabin have been playing together as New Vega since 2008.  They spent the early part of 2012 performing live in Dayton and Cincinnati and are now heading into the studio to record a new album that will be their first release with WHOA Records. 

New Vega returned to the WYSO studios to perform 4 new songs from their forthcoming album, which is set for a February 2013 release.  They spoke with Kaleidoscope host Juliet Fromholt about preparing to record and plans for the new year.

Terminal Cafe Live on Kaleidoscope

Terminal Cafe began performing in Dayton in the 1980s and competed in the first ever Dayton Band Playoffs at the newly opened Canal Street Tavern.  After many years apart, the band has reunited and started rehearsing for an upcoming reunion show along with several current local bands containing the members' children.  Terminal Cafe visited the WYSO studios for their first live performance in over a decade.  They spoke with Shelly Hulce about the Dayton music scene in the 1980s, the decision to reunite and preparations for their reunion concert.
