Cinder Home Live on Excursions. 2/1/2012

Among many of great bands attending this year's third annual Dayton Does Dayton event at Canal Street Tavern this weekend, February 1st and 2nd, is Cinder Home. They are Shawn Zerkle (Guitar/vocals), Calvin Garber (Guitar/Mandolin/Perc.), Gabe Cottrel (Banjo/Perc./Vocals), Meredith Miles (Viola), and Trey Miller (Bass).

Reyna and Dana Live on Excursions. 1/30/2012

WYSO welcomed into the studio the music of Reyna and Dana. The duo consists of Reyna Spears on piano and Dana Farley on guitar. Both are also part of a local band known as Curious Animals. Reyna Spears is from a family of missionaries. She spent part of her childhood in Peru. Dana Farley has made appearences on WYSO in the past including a performance with a bluegrass band in the 1970's.

Reyna and Dana will perforn live, February 2nd, at Canal Street Tavern in Dayton during Dayton Does Dayton. The show is part of a two night extravaganza of music from local artists.

Live on Excursions: The Savory Chickens

WYSO was pleased to welcome live into the studio, The Savory Chickens. They will be playing on January 19th at the Springfield Arts Musuem during the opening reception of Outside in Ohio. The event starts at 5:30pm, and The Savory Chickens take the stage at 6:30pm.

The Savory Chickens are mostly a family based band consisting of Ricky Barnes on guitar and vocals, his two children, Henry and Audrey Barnes both on fiddle and vocals, Matt Newman on bass, and Michael Falk on Banjo. Ricky raised his two children on classical and fiddle music from a young age.

Live on Excursions: The Half Shebang

The Half Shebang are Kevin Milner and Lindsey Rogers. They are a local Dayton and Cincinnati Ohio based folk/indie band. They performed at Ghostlight Coffee on Friday January 4th at 8pm along with Todd Widener. They have performed three or four times to date including an appearance on Kaleidoscope on WYSO. While on Excursions, they performed some of their songs including "Demons" and "Ireland."
