Jerry Kenney

Host, All Things Considered and Producer, WYSO Weekend

Jerry Kenney was introduced to WYSO by a friend and within a year of first tuning in became an avid listener and supporter. He began volunteering at the station in 1991 and began hosting Alpha Rhythms in February of 1992. Jerry joined the WYSO staff in 2007 as a host of All Things Considered and soon transitioned into hosting Morning Edition. In addition to now hosting All Things Considered, Jerry is the host and producer of WYSO Weekend, WYSO's weekly news and arts magazine. He has also produced several radio dramas for WYSO in collaboration with local theater companies. Jerry has won several Ohio AP awards as well as an award from PRINDI for his work with the WYSO news department. Jerry says that the best part of his job is being able to talk to people in the community and share their experiences with WYSO listeners.

Local/State Film Advocates to Testify Before Ways and Means Today

This week the Center for Economic Development at Cleveland State University issued a report that said Ohio's tax lures for movie-makers have led to work for thousands of people, and millions of dollars in economic impact.

Today (Wednesday and Thursday) film industry advocates are at the Ohio Statehouse to talk to lawmakers about increasing the amount of tax-credits available to film-makers.  Executive Director of Film Dayton, Megan Cooper is making the trip.  Today she’ll testify before the House Ways and Means Committee about the benefits brought by the tax incentives.

City of Dayton To Show New Webster St. Designs Tonight

Tonight the City of Dayton is holding a public meeting to show new design concepts for the proposed Webster Street replacement bridge over the Mad River.  Bridge designer EMH&T will be on hand to hear suggestions and answer questions.

Assistant Director of Public Works, Steve Finke says the bridge is still structurally sound but the replacement is needed.

Dayton City Commission Approves Three-year Contract with IAFF

Last week the Dayton City Commission approved a new three-year contract with the International Association of Firefighters, Local 136 (IAFF).  The agreement includes a combination of wage freezes, modest raises, changes in sick leave, and increases in health care contributions by employees.
