Jerry Kenney

Host, All Things Considered and Producer, WYSO Weekend

Jerry Kenney was introduced to WYSO by a friend and within a year of first tuning in became an avid listener and supporter. He began volunteering at the station in 1991 and began hosting Alpha Rhythms in February of 1992. Jerry joined the WYSO staff in 2007 as a host of All Things Considered and soon transitioned into hosting Morning Edition. In addition to now hosting All Things Considered, Jerry is the host and producer of WYSO Weekend, WYSO's weekly news and arts magazine. He has also produced several radio dramas for WYSO in collaboration with local theater companies. Jerry has won several Ohio AP awards as well as an award from PRINDI for his work with the WYSO news department. Jerry says that the best part of his job is being able to talk to people in the community and share their experiences with WYSO listeners.

Debate over President's Comments and Role of Government in Job Creation Rises

Recent comments by President Barack Obama, while speaking to supporters in Roanoke, Virginia, have fueled the debate over government’s role in job creation.  The President’s critics, including presumptive GOP candidate Mitt Romney, say his statements represent the President’s anti-business views and are an attack on entrepreneurs.  The President claims, in television ads and in subsequent campaign appearances, that his words have been taken out of context.  (Scroll to the end of this article to read the comments in question.)

White Castle Facility to Bring More Than 100 Jobs to Vandalia

On Monday (July 23rd, 2012), Ohio Governor John Kasich, Vandalia Mayor Arlene Setzer, city of Dayton and White Castle officials, including CEO and President Bill Ingram, took part in a groundbreaking ceremony near the site of White Castle’s new food processing Facility in Vandalia, an 83,000 square ft. facility in the Stonequarry Crossing development site near Peter’s Pike.

88th Air Base Wing Gets New Commander

  • Col. Amanda Gladney final speech as Commander of the 88th Air Base Wing
  • Col. Cassie Barlow addresses the men and women now under her command.

One of the largest air base wings in the Air Force got a new commander.  Col. Cassie Barlow assumed command of the 88th Air Base Wing at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base at a ceremony Tuesday morning at the National Museum of the United States Air Force.  

In the ceremony,  Col. Amanda Gladney thanked those who, she says, helped make her leadership successful.
