Jerry Kenney

Host, All Things Considered and Producer, WYSO Weekend

Jerry Kenney was introduced to WYSO by a friend and within a year of first tuning in became an avid listener and supporter. He began volunteering at the station in 1991 and began hosting Alpha Rhythms in February of 1992. Jerry joined the WYSO staff in 2007 as a host of All Things Considered and soon transitioned into hosting Morning Edition. In addition to now hosting All Things Considered, Jerry is the host and producer of WYSO Weekend, WYSO's weekly news and arts magazine. He has also produced several radio dramas for WYSO in collaboration with local theater companies. Jerry has won several Ohio AP awards as well as an award from PRINDI for his work with the WYSO news department. Jerry says that the best part of his job is being able to talk to people in the community and share their experiences with WYSO listeners.

Ohio Atty. Gen. DeWine Announces Human Trafficking Task Force and Commision

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine has announced the formation of a Human Trafficking Task Force.  WYSO’s Jerry Kenney reports that it’s the first of its kind in Central Ohio.

Truvada: HIV Prevention Drug Pros and Cons

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved a preventative drug for HIV.  The drug is called Truvada, and though it has been hailed as good news in the fight against HIV / AIDS, says there are some concerns associated with the treatment.  Bill Hardy with AIDS Resource Center Ohio gives us the pros and cons in this ARC update on WYSO's Morning Edition.

Dayton History Announces $4 Million Dollar Expansion

Dayton History has announced it will begin a $4 million dollar expansion that includes four new additions to the Carillon Historical Park campus. 

In December of 2013, the visitors to the park will have a chance to stop by the Carillon Brewing Company  - a full scale, working 19th century brewery – contained in an historically accurate building, with costumed interpreters who will demonstrate the 19th century processes of  producing beer, wine, cider, and cheese.
