News Director and Host, Morning Edition

Emily’s love of music brought her to public radio, where she found her love for news. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in music at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, she began her career in 2003 at WFIU Public Radio in Bloomington, Indiana, producing and hosting music and news programs and learning the behind-the-scenes work of public broadcasting. She joined WYSO in 2007 as the host of “All Things Considered” and jumped head first into news gathering. Emily’s been relishing it ever since-her reporting has earned her numerous AP Awards and a nationally recognized Gabriel Award. WYSO has been a fulfilling and exciting place for Emily, where she is privileged to work with a creative and supportive staff.

Antioch College Leader Reflects On Past Year And Future

Bedbugs A Problem, But It May Not Be Unique To Ohio

Four Ohio cities made a dubious list last week. According to a report, Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Dayton are among the top 15 most bedbug infested cities in the country.

The report came from the pest control company, Terminix, and when it came out, it was icky news for Ohioans. More than any other state, Ohio appears to be having a big bedbug problem. But Jen House, with Ohio Department of Health says it's important to remember that this study was based on the number of calls Terminix received from across the state.

Natural History Artist Zickefoose Speaks In Miami Valley

NPR Commentator and natural history writer and artist, Julie Zickefoose, lives in a farm in southeastern Ohio. But this week, she's in the Miami Valley leading a workshop for the Tecumseh Land Trust's 20th anniversary celebration. Zickefoose is an avid observer of birds, and says that this time of year is her favorite for bird watching in southern Ohio.

Federal Grant Creates More Internships At Wright Patterson

Take an already successful college internship program, multiply its funding by 4, and throw in the research taking place at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, and what do you get?

"When you think about it we're bringing in $14 million in new revenue to our region through this program," says Sean Creighton, executive director of the Southwestern Ohio Council for Education.
