News Director and Host, Morning Edition

Emily’s love of music brought her to public radio, where she found her love for news. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in music at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, she began her career in 2003 at WFIU Public Radio in Bloomington, Indiana, producing and hosting music and news programs and learning the behind-the-scenes work of public broadcasting. She joined WYSO in 2007 as the host of “All Things Considered” and jumped head first into news gathering. Emily’s been relishing it ever since-her reporting has earned her numerous AP Awards and a nationally recognized Gabriel Award. WYSO has been a fulfilling and exciting place for Emily, where she is privileged to work with a creative and supportive staff.

BRAC: How It All Began

This week, the new Human Performance Wing at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base will officially open at a ribbon cutting ceremony. Of course, military brass and other dignitaries will be in attendance. But the opening will signal a new chapter in the Miami Valley as hundreds of families move to our area. Cycling Summit Touts The Economics Of Cycling

The second Miami Valley Cycling Summit takes place Friday. This focus of this year's event is the economic impact of cycling in a community. According to the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission, the bike trails in the region attract 1 million visitors, and those people spend 16 million dollars on goods and services related to their use of the trails every year. Andy Williamson is organizing the event, and he says communities also see a ripple effect when they include cycling in their economic plan.
