6 Ohio Schools Join Veterans Medical Care Research

     Six universities in Ohio are part of a new national push to boost training and research on military veterans' brain injuries and post-traumatic stress disorder.

     First lady Michelle Obama talked about the initiative Wednesday before a gathering of military members and veterans in Virginia. She said 105 U.S. medical schools and 25 schools of osteopathic medicine are bolstering their efforts to train students in treating brain injuries, PTSD and other mental-health issues affecting service members.

Ohio Girl Scout Troop Honored For Pillow Project

     A Girl Scout troop that provides pillows and pillow cases to a northeast Ohio homeless shelter is among five recipients of state awards given in memory of Martin Luther King Jr.

     Scouts in Troop 397 in Lake Milton say their annual donation to a Youngstown shelter was inspired by King's "I Have a Dream" speech. The girls reasoned that in order to have a dream, a person needs a pillow.

     They were recognized on Wednesday at the state's annual King commemorative celebration in Columbus, coming ahead of Monday's King Holiday.

But that's what happened to 29 teenagers in Minnesota, who got sick after they helped hunt, process and cook seven white-tailed deer for an outdoor recreation and environmental science class.

Maybe even if it weren't a general-election year, President Obama would still be proposing that Congress give him the power to merge federal agencies to make the government smaller and more efficient.

But the fact is it is the year in which the president is seeking re-election, a year in which both the eventual Republican presidential nominee and Obama's GOP opponents in Congress will assert hundreds of times before it's over that he is a big-government Democrat.
