In the late 1960's, three young musicians from Dayton Ohio, Suzanne Thomas, Rick Good and Dave Edmundson, formed the Hotmud Family and began performing traditional music on stages in the Miami Valley and beyond. On October 1, 2, and 3, 2010, WYSO hosted a Hotmud Family Reunion at Canal Street Tavern in Dayton.

This month is known to people around the world as "No-Shave November." It's a time to forgo the razor to raise money for charity and to make a point - facial hair is an option, even in the professional world. Here in Dayton a social club known as The Gem City Gentlemen of the Gilded Beard organized Ohio's first beard and mustache competition to cultivate a local appreciation of well-groomed facial hair.
In 2009, Governor Strickland named Dayton as the Ohio Aerospace Hub of Innovation-It was an effort to promote the aerospace research in the area and to create jobs. Now, GE Aviation is partnering with the hub. It's called the Electrical Power Integrated Systems Research and Development, or EPISCENTER. Its focus is on making power systems for hybrid and electric vehicles, electric ships and aircraft and smarter power grids.
