Groups, Towns Say Ohio Fracking Rules Fall Short

Environmentalists and local officials complain that proposed standards for extracting oil and gas from the shale beneath Ohio don't go far enough.

The Columbus Dispatch reports drilling firms won't have to reveal all the chemicals used in hydraulic fracturing, or fracking.  That's a horizontal drilling technique that releases natural gas from shale by breaking up the rock with chemical-laced water.

He was a blessed and enlightened individual. He maintained the quintessential Bass/role playing persona There was nothing rote about DJ. He must have been born with a comprehensive insight into the human condition and its obvious contradictions. His maturity, at least from a philosophical musical standpoint was intimidating to this wannabe guitarist/visual artist.

In this monthly series we’ll hear from faculty and staff from areas colleges and universities on a wide variety of subjects. It's an effort to bring Miami Valley research and thinking into the public arena – a way to enlighten the world with local knowledge.
