It's an evening of firsts as Kaleidoscope broadcasts its first show from the new WYSO studios. Tim Pritchard and the Boxcar Suite (Tim Pritchard, Phil Caviness, Tony Moore and Trevor Bell) are the evening's guests performing the first live set in the new building ahead of their first public performance at Side Show 7 on May 12, 2012 at the Yellow Cab Building in downtown Dayton. The band performs an acoustic set and previews songs from their album, set to be released in late May.
In P. F. Kluge's latest novel, "The Master Blaster," the author returns to familiar terrain, the Pacific island of Saipan. Kluge has written about Saipan before and he knows the island well. In this interview he recalls his first visit there as a member of the Peace Corps, and his many subsequent trips there.
The National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center in Wilberforce has been closed since August of 2011 because of a mold problem. The Ohio Historical Society has been working on fixing the issue so the museum can open its doors again.
One of Ohio's largest school districts plans to make energy-saving renovations at 28 schools using a nearly $27 million low-interest loan.
The Cincinnati school board voted in favor of taking out the loan yesterday, despite some board members' concerns about moving ahead with the projects as the district cuts jobs and faces an estimated $43 million deficit.
