Niki Dakota was joined by Aaron Rourke of Rivers Unlimited on Excursions to talk about the film Call of the Scenic River: an Ohio Journey. It tells the story of Ohio's scenic rivers, non-point source pollution and the ecological and economic impacts of water quality. Ohio Rivers Unlimited is the oldest rivers conservation organization in the nation. Wright State University documentary film maker Tom Mayer journeys to fifteen of Ohio's scenic rivers to learn about river conservation and its rich history here in Ohio.
The Pentagon today announced military spending cuts at a news conference which is part of the military's efforts to trim 487 billion dollar from their budget over the next 10 years. In addition to by shrinking U.S. ground forces, slowing the purchase of a next-generation stealth fighter and retiring older planes and ships, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta also asked Congress to consider closing some military bases.
It was Craigslist that brought Andris Devine, Doug Spencer and Jim Tramontana together, but as Red Hot Rebellion was formed, the trio found instant musical compatibility. After performing their mix of punk, garage rock and blues on stage, the band is now gearing up for the release of their debut album on vinyl and cd with a comic book companion.
Red Hot Rebellion will perform at the Dayton Does Dayton music festival on February 3rd and 4th at Canal Street Tavern. They'll celebrate the release of their album on February 10th at Blind Bob's.
