We wrap up our series “The New Face of Wright-Patt” looking at the big gains of the recent BRAC decision with a cautious eye toward the future. Gone are many of our manufacturing jobs but the Miami Valley is staying true to its roots of aviation and innovation. Emily McCord looks at how Wright-Patt is writing a new chapter in our history.

Much like this previous release, Lo-fi Movement, Kris N's new album was recorded at home.  Prior to recording the songs that would become Heartscarf, he recorded two other albums worth of material but decided that the current songs were the right ones to release. 

Kris N returned to the WYSO studios to perform tracks from Heartscarf live and spoke with Kaleidoscope host Juliet Fromholt about recording in the moment and the idea of the heart scarf, which was conceptualized with visual artist Cherry Fullam.  Heartscarf will be released on June 24th via Poptek Records. 

A total of twelve hundred new jobs will come to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base because of BRAC – the Base Realignment and Closure. When military personnel are told their jobs are moving they must move too. But civilians working for the Air Force have a choice. And this BRAC has been particularly successful in getting civilians to pack up their homes and relocate their families. Sarah Buckingham reports on a unique effort by Ohioans that made the Miami Valley particularly attractive.

Two new companies are coming to Springfield, one is an insurance firm and the other sells gift items.  Between the two of them, hundreds of the jobs could be coming to Clark County.  That's why the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce, along with the Workforce Development Center, is holding a job fair tomorrorw to connect job seekers with employers.

With an 8.9% unemployment rate, Springfield's lackluster economy has made it hard to fine a job. But the situation is changing thanks to the arrival of 31 Gifts and Code Blue, and the growth isn't limited to these companies.
