Student Housing Planned for Downtown Dayton

A 200-apartment student housing complex is being planned for downtown Dayton, one of the city's largest downtown residential projects in recent years.

The $18 million project will be on the site of the former Dayton Daily News building and adjoining property.

The Dayton Daily News reported Thursday that Cox Media Group plans to sell the property to the nonprofit United Housing and Community Services Corporation of California.

The paper says that company would partner with Missouri-based Student Suites to build the 350-bed facility near Sinclair Community College.

DDN: Cargo Fleet at Ohio Base Allows Medical Missions

A new fleet of cargo planes at a U.S. Air Force base in Ohio allows reservists who fly overseas to transport
wounded troops to medical treatment centers.

The Dayton Daily News reports Sunday that nine C-17 Globemaster III cargo planes replace the C-5A Galaxy planes flown by the Air Force Reserve 445th Airlift Wing at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Unlike the C-5As, the new planes allow for aeromedical missions.

$9 Mill Retail Building Possible Near Dayton Mall

A meeting between RG Properties and Miami Township trustees has resulted in a deal to construct a $9 million retail building at Lyons Road and Ohio 741.

Last night, founder of RG Properties, Randy Gunlock, entered into an executive session with the township officials after they discussed passing a resolution for the construction.
