Photographer Re-creates Dayton Flood Images

Photographer Andy Snow has done some amazing work replicating camera camera shots of photographs of the 1913 Dayton Flood. They're part of the Dayton Art Institute's 100 year anniversary exhibit that opened this weekend. They will also be featured in a new book by Andy that will be released in March. WYSO's Jerry Kenney spoke with Andy at the media premiere of DAI's Dayton Flood Exhibit. In this interview Andy talks about how the project started and what he learned from it.

The Dayton International Peace Museum has two events on Sunday. Their new exhibition, "Peacemakers: Women of Liberia," will open at 12:30 p.m. It features the work of 2 of our 2012 Nobel Peace Prize laureates and other Liberian women who came together to end Liberia's civil wars.

And the film In the Land of Blood and Honey will be screened by The Neon Movies, at 3 p.m. in partnership with the Peace Museum.

Dayton’s Community Day of the Dead is part of the First Friday, tonight, 6-10 p.m. The parade, led by Michael Bashaw and students, will line up on Wyandot Ave., behind Hauer Music and Arby’s, at 6 p.m. You are encouraged to participate and all that is needed is some sort of skeleton mask or other Day of the Dead attire. The parade will go down Fifth Street shortly after 6 p.m., arriving at Missing Peace Art Space around 6:30 p.m.
