Over the last year, journalism students at Miami University have been interviewing a misunderstood population at their school - student veterans. As returning soldiers transition back into civilian life with few options in the ever-shrinking job market, going back to school has become a growing national trend across the country.

WYSO celebrates Hanukkah this Sunday, December 9th with special programming from NPR and Public Radio International.

Tune in at 6:00 PM for Hanukkah Lights. A perennial NPR favorite, Hanukkah Lights features Hanukkah stories and memoirs written by acclaimed authors expressly for the show, as read by NPR's Susan Stamberg and Murray Horwitz.

Then, at 8:00 PM, Mindy Ratner and Bill Morelock explore the customs and music of the holiday on Candles Burning Brightly, from Public Radio International.

In the Ohio race, incumbent Sherrod Brown defeated Republican State Treasurer Josh Mandel.

Former Dayton Daily News editor Ellen Belcher says when Mandel decided to run against Brown, not many people gave him a chance - but when money started pouring in, the tide started turning.

"Its been up and down and there were moments when people thought Sherrod Brown could actually lose this. I think this is one of those times where those who think that money can't buy an election are proven right," says Belcher.
