Event Description

Registration is now open for the Rockin’ 5K. The event will be held at Snyder Park in Springfield, Ohio on Friday, April 21st at 6:30pm. Project Woman of Clark, Champaign, and Madison Counties is hosting the race. There will be live music as participants run or walk the race route. The event is connected to the university initiative, “It’s on US”, with students from Wittenberg University, Clark State Community College, Central State University, and Urbana University participating. Laura Baxter, Executive Director of Project Woman commented on the event, “Our Strides Against Violence 5K is not just a race – it is a great way to Speak Out and let survivors know they are Not Alone! I look forward to seeing everyone again this year!” Proceeds benefit Project Woman of Ohio; serving Clark, Champaign, and Madison Counties. Project Woman is dedicated to ending domestic violence and sexual assault by providing services and programs to protect, educate, and empower. Community volunteers founded the agency in 1974 as a 1-room rape crisis center. Today, as a non-profit 501c3, Project Woman offers a full range of services including emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault and their children, a 24-hour crisis line, individual counseling, support groups, case management, victim advocacy, community education and prevention, children’s programming, 24-hour hospital advocacy and a greatly-needed transitional housing program. Race Pre-Registration is only $25, and is $30 the day of the race. College Students receive a reduced rate of $20 with a valid College ID or University Email Address.
