A new independent poll of likely voters shows some bad news for Democratic candidate for governor Ed FitzGerald. The latest Quinnipiac poll has likely voters backing Republican incumbent John Kasich at 57 percent, compared to 35 percent for FitzGerald, the Democratic Cuyahoga County Executive. The poll also shows Kasich gets support from a full quarter of Democratic voters, and nearly half of those surveyed say they still don’t know enough about FitzGerald to form an opinion.
A new poll finds that Ohioans are closely divided when it comes to gay marriage. A Quinnipiac University poll released Monday shows that 50 percent of Ohio voters support gay marriage while 44 percent are against it.
The survey also finds that Ohio voters under age 30 overwhelmingly back the idea while those 65 and older opposed it.
Gay marriage supporters are working to put the issue back on the Ohio ballot in November. There also have been recent lawsuits aimed at seeking the recognition of gay marriage in Ohio.
There might be support for legalizing marijuana and allowing gay marriage in some states but a new poll shows both issues might lose if Ohio voters weighed in right now.
Just last week, a Quinnpiac University National poll showed support for legalizing marijuana by a margin of 51 to 44 percent. But a new Quinnipiac University Poll of Ohioans shows the issue is tied here in the buckeye state at 47 percent.
