Ohio AG Wants Active Shooter Response Studied

Ohio Attorney General, Mike DeWine

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine says it's time to study whether police officers are adequately trained to identify whether they're dealing with an active shooter situation.

DeWine says recent police shootings across the country show this is one area that has not been looked at.

DeWine made his remarks Thursday as he directed the state police training commission to study possible updates in officer training in using force.

DeWine announced the meeting last week after demonstrations around the country over racial justice and police use of force.

Kasich, DeWine, and Husted Win Re-election In Ohio

It looks like Republican Governor John Kasich has won re-election by defeating Cleveland Democrat Ed FitzGerald accoding toi the Associated Press. Early indications are that turnout was low across the state.

Tuesday's victory was expected after campaign missteps by FitzGerald, the Cuyahoga County executive, left him seriously behind in polls and fundraising.

FitzGerald's troubles and the lack of a U.S. Senate race or any statewide ballot issues were among factors keeping people from the polls.

DeWine Aide Didn't Report Harassment

An investigation at Attorney General Mike DeWine's office last year determined DeWine's then-employment law chief failed to properly report an employee who repeatedly told a legal secretary he liked to slap and punch women.

Student Group To Hold Rally On Monday For John Crawford

A rally for the family of a man shot and killed by police inside a Beavercreek Walmart in August will take place Monday morning. A student led political activist group from Columbus is organizing the event.

The Ohio Student Association is calling the event the "Journey for John Crawford." Crawford was shot and killed inside of Walmart after police responded to a 9-1-1 call saying he was pointing a weapon at other customers.
