Wright-Patt Suspends Classes Amid Shutdown

Aviation-related classes have been canceled at Ohio's largest military base as a result of furloughs triggered by the federal government shutdown.

The Dayton Daily News reports the Air Force Institute of Technology suspended classes this week at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. About 8,700 civilian employees were sent home without pay when the partial federal government shutdown began Tuesday.

Cyber Security

The August 2011 installment of SOCHE TALKS featuring Dr. Rusty Bladwin, from the Air Force Institute of Technology on Cyber Security.

The SOCHE Talks are a collaboration with the Southwest Ohio Council for Higher Education. In this monthly series we’ll hear from faculty and staff from areas colleges and universities on a wide variety of subjects. It's an effort to bring Miami Valley research and thinking into the public arena – a way to enlighten the world with local knowledge.

Cyber Engineering Students Graduate with Hackfest

Students of a cyber engineering course at the Air Force Institute of Technology will graduate today at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base - after the program's capstone event. 31 program graduates were separated into two teams competing against each other in large-scale cyber warfare. The cyber security boot camp was created by AFIT’s center for cyberspace research in response to the growing number of cyber security issues.
