Book Nook: The World As It Is - Dispatches on the Myth of Human Progress, by Chris Hedges

Chris Hedges spent nearly two decades as a war correspondent for the New York Times. He was part of an investigative team that won a Pulitzer Prize for their reporting.

Hedges reported from war zones in Africa, the Middle East, Central America, and the Balkans. He knows the horrors of war. His first book, "War is a Force that Gives Us Meaning" is one of the most powerful anti-war manifestoes of the last decade. Hedges appeared in the Book Nook when that book was published and he returned for another visit when it was reissued in paperback.

BRAC: How It All Began

This week, the new Human Performance Wing at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base will officially open at a ribbon cutting ceremony. Of course, military brass and other dignitaries will be in attendance. But the opening will signal a new chapter in the Miami Valley as hundreds of families move to our area. In our week long series, “The New Face of Wright-Patt”, Emily McCord takes us to the beginning of the BRAC process.

Live on Kaleidoscope: The Buffalo Killers

Since their performance with Kelley Deal during Record Store Day, the Buffalo Killers have been busy putting the final touches on their new album, 3.  After the record is released locally in July, the band will embark on a West Coast tour.  Zach Gabbard, Andy Gabbard and Joseph Sebaali braved spring tornados in Southern Ohio to visit the WYSO studios and perform several live tracks as well as preview a song from 3.

The Buffalo Killers will perform at Peach's Grill in Yellow Springs on Friday, May 27th.
